Facebook and Instagram’s “Pa’ Mi Gente” Event In Brooklyn Celebrates Latinx Creators & Changemakers
Facebook and Instagram wrapped up Latinx & Hispanic Heritage Month with their Pa’ Mi Gente event at Zero Space Brooklyn as part of their digital campaign. The Meta-led event celebrated creators and changemakers and was covered by Contrast’s Tiffany Pereira and Out My Closet’s Michael A. Narain.
The Latinx celebration included a panel discussion with RuPaul’s Drag Race cast member and performer Kandy Muse (@KandyMuse), climate activist Xiye Bastida (@Xiyebeara), founder of Launch Latinx and Facebook Group administrator Harry Lopez (@LaunchLatinx), and Spanish-language comedic star Ana Alvarado (@Lipstickfables). The panel was hosted by entertainer and host Krystal Vega (@KrystalVega).
Among the many things discussed were how to use platforms such as Facebook and Instagram to make positive changes in the world as well as using these platform’s innovation to inspire young creators. Instagram and Facebook offer a place for young creators to “discover community and emerging interests connected to Latinx culture.”
